Sparring is the practice of applying the techniques
learned in classes to a more practical application
under close supervision of Instructors.
All students must wear protective gear that includes
padded head-gear, gloves, foot pads, mouth pieces,
and for males, a cup. Students testing from
yellow belt and up are required to demonstrate sparring
in testing. Sparring is a fun activity for most students,
and the designated sparring classes by
A-West Karate are among the most popular.
Sparring is a required testing
component from the yellow belt level up.
Sparring allows
students to demonstrate the techniques learned in class in a
closely controlled atmosphere against another student or
students.
Advanced students will spar against multiple
opponents
